Santiago de Chile |
|
This thriving metropolis of 6 million people (out of the country's
population of 15 million) wedged between the glacial peaks of the Andes |
|
and the dry Coastal Range in the Central Valley is the economic & political
heart of the country. It is also the necessary arrival point for most
travelers to Chile. Although its air pollution can be difficult to
bear, the city offers a wide range of hotels, restaurants, museums,
crafts, a superb metro and more for the traveller. |

|
However the biggest
highlight to Santiago is the ease with which one can escape to the beaches
of the coast or the soaring peaks of the Andes to ski, hike or simply enjoy
nature. No capital city of this size in the world offers such a
variety of activities so close by.
With a few days one can enjoy the nearby vineyards, world famous skiing,
museums, local crafts, coastal visits, rafting and much more. Some
