   Atacama Desert- Chile

The world's driest desert covers the north of Chile, from the coastal cities and bay communities to the "altiplano" and the 6,000 meter-plus
(20,000ft) peaks of the Andes.  The area has a long history of human habitation- over 10,000 years prior to the arrival of the Spanish!

The most popular destination by far is the oasis community of San Pedro de Atacama, a village of white-washed adobe buildings at the edge of a great salt flat surrounded by

San Pedro de Atacama
massive volcanoes, flamingo-filled lakes, inca-terraced valleys and stunning desert landscapes.

From San Pedro one can happily spend 4 days exploring the unique sites of the region, which include: Valley of the Moon, Flamingo national Park, El Tatio Geysers (highest geyser field in the world!), and many unique desert villages.

A visit to the Atacama desert will show you the "Other Chile"!!!!
